What is a B Corporation?

A Certified B Corporation is a company that meets the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Unlike traditional businesses, B Corps commit to using profit as a force for good — balancing the needs of people, planet, and profit. Certified by the nonprofit B Lab, these businesses go through a rigorous assessment to prove they’re walking the talk when it comes to equity, sustainability, and ethical governance. Being a B Corp isn’t just a badge — it’s a mindset, a movement, and a long-term commitment to building a better kind of business.

How B Corps Strengthen Your Business

Becoming a B Corp isn’t just about doing good — it’s about building a stronger, more resilient business. Companies that go through the B Corp process gain deeper clarity on their mission, improve internal systems, attract values-aligned talent, and build lasting trust with customers and communities. B Corps are proven to outperform peers in employee retention, brand loyalty, and long-term growth. By embedding purpose into your business model, you don’t just stand out — you stand for something. That’s powerful.

What It Takes to Get Certified

To become a Certified B Corporation, a business must complete the B Impact Assessment (BIA) — a comprehensive evaluation of how your company operates across five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. You’ll need to score at least 80 out of 200 points, provide supporting documentation, and commit to legal accountability by incorporating stakeholder interests into your business structure. It’s rigorous — but with the right guidance, it’s absolutely doable. At Summit Bridge, we help simplify the process so you can focus on real progress, not red tape.
